Finally, the last work regarding our research on the cursor. Part of the project "Aquí / Allí" ("Here / There")

window with(in) a window

This is the first sample for the construction of our third image part of the project "Strategies for a contemporary landscape's configuration"

It shows the appearance of the webcam interface and its relationship with the concept of window. The first image depicts the "Hebden House" (part of the Kingsland Estate next to the London canal) Part of those flats have been shut down due to unknown reasons for me so far. The image on top is the window of my bedroom, placed where the fourth window should be. So that, it creates an open space or an imaginary tunnel between two spaces that don't have anything to do in first place.

We are developing a project regarding the configuration of the contemporary landscape. We made a connection between the idea of bridges and the location toolbar of a web browser. Here it is an example of the images that will inform the whole project.

Test

We want to animate both skies but so far this is the first test. The video underneath that line is one that I filmed from the plane in one of my journeys from Madrid to London.

From the train

I had to take my sister to the airport the other day. On my way back I filmed this video from the train. I used my mobile phone and eventhough the quality is low I really like the result. I wanted to follow with my finger the things that were passing by and to point out that there was a window in between.

The image on top depicts the sky in London (above) and the one in Madrid (below). The line that goes from A to B is the route that randomly appears on Google maps when you check the way from mine to Silvia's. The image appearing subtly underneath this line is a picture that I took from the plane in one of my travels from Madrid to London.

This is just a test within the project "Here/There" and within the one about bridges. I really like the fact of putting together the three images by considering the journey and the sky as a common and individual element at the same time. As well, the depiction of the route looks a sort of gap, which seems quite interesting to me in a conceptual way.

Canonbury Bridge

This bridge is located at Canonbury's overground station in London. The trains that pass by underneath go towards or come from Stratford and Richmond. For me, it has certain emotional connotations but also, in a way, my interest in bridges started from this one.

Set up in Nowhere

These are some photographs of the Millenium bridge in London. I'm really interested in bridges lately. In my opinion, they are inspiring structures as they can make distances shorter by keeping them at the same time. Somehow, bridges have an influence on our way of perceiving the space.

This is a part of the project we have been working on recently...but we still have many things to think about.

I've found this funny advertisement of a spanish phone company... They promote something similar to webcam conversations in order to let companies be in touch at a distance.

The slogan is like :" It's already possible to be here while being there. And the opposite" This has made me laugh, as we are working now with the words "here" and "there"...

Nor "here" nor "there" but quite the opposite

We are working on the words "aquí" (here) and "allí" (there) as terms that establish two different and individual locations by determining two relative and interchangeable spaces. That way, the couple "aquí" - "allí" work as a mechanism that relates people at a distance through their own positions in the space.

The quote: "usted está aquí" (you are here) displayed on maps in the street is a system of bearings based on representation. Somehow people become spectators who gaze at their position just for a while.

The images are some tests on our research. The maps of Madrid and London depict Silvia's and mine (from where we usually talk by skype) They are placed one on top of the other by matching up each hypothetical location or in other words, our own conception of "aquí" which is, respectively, the conception of "allí" for the other one. Both images comprise a new confusing area or space of encounter.
